ACNE TREATMENT
Individually targeted treatment plans to combat active acne and acne scarring
Beautify SA offers a wide range of treatment options for clients – both adults and teenagers – experiencing acne which is one of the most common and most troubling skin conditions.
Acne affects mostly skin with the densest population of sebaceous follicles; these areas include the face, the upper part of the chest, and the back. It starts when hair follicles and pores become blocked with the natural oil produced by the skin (sebum) and dead skin cells. Within a blocked pore, bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes) multiplies and causes inflammation. Blackheads and whiteheads form, and in cases of inflammatory acne: pustules (spots), nodules and cysts.
Most people have a mild form of acne that usually clears up after their teenage years, but sometimes more severe complications e.g. acne scarring and hyperpigmentation can develop if you have moderate or severe acne. At Beautify SA we offer skin care and treatments to minimize outbreaks and improve acne scarring, allowing you to feel better about your skin.
You will be offered a full consultation, during which we will take a complete lifestyle history in order to develop an effective treatment plan tailored specifically for you. We will discuss in detail the pros and cons of each treatment option, so that you can decide how you would like to proceed.
Treatment for acne often requires a multi-treatment plan. Combination treatments typically include prescription medication, skin peels and Dermaroller. We also use Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) which destroys the bacteria that live in the skin and cause acne (this is how natural sunlight helps to improve acne) and targets the over-active sebaceous glands.
Acne Scarring
Acne scarring is usually caused by inflammation at a cellular level that causes darkened or lightened pigmented areas, disruption of collagen fibres and an overproduction of scar tissue. If this inflammation alters the collagen structure, a pock mark or other unsightly scar may develop.
At Beautify SA we provide the latest approaches to treat the scarring left by acne including skin resurfacing and Dermaroller.
