This will depend on the type of peel selected and area being treated. Peels can be used on areas such as the face, décolletage, backs of hands, neck and back.

You will be able to return to your normal activities straight away. You should avoid sun exposure for 48 hours and effective sun protection needs to be applied. When will I see results? You should immediately see an improvement in your skin texture – it will appear brighter and firmer. These improvements should continue because a chemical skin peel works by removing all of the old damaged cells and promoting the growth of new healthy cells.

Most risk are associated with skin healing and appearance. This varies between mild redness and crusting. This is the old skin preparing to shed revealing a fresher more dewy complexion.

Yes. Some reasons include broken skin such as eczema, psoriasis, recent facial surgery, sunburn, cystic acne and pregnancy. Some skin types may not be suitable e.g. ethnicity and darker skin types.

Chemical skin peels can be very effective at reducing the appearance of fine surface lines and wrinkles, blemishes, pigment problems and acne scarring to significantly improve the appearance and texture of your skin. Many clients choose chemical peels to reduce the ageing effects of smoking and sun exposure, giving their skin a more youthful, healthy glow. The formulation of chemical skin peels can be individually tailored to your needs, enabling us to target specific areas or treat the skin on your face, arms, hands or neck. A chemical skin peel works by removing old, dead skin cells at the surface of the skin to promote new cell growth. Chemical peels can be used to treat a particular area (such as lines around the eyes or mouth) or all over the face, arms, hands and neck. There are three types of chemical skin peel: superficial chemical peel, medium chemical peel, or deep chemical peel. With all types of peel you may need to use specified homecare products before your treatment. These products will help to prepare your skin and ensure that it is in optimum condition prior to the peel. You may also need to use specified homecare products after your peel. Your before and after care will be discussed fully with you at your initial consultation.

At Beautify SA we use a wide range of leading superficial and medium chemical skin peels that can be tailored to your individual needs.

You will be asked to attend a full consultation where we will carry out a comprehensive skin analysis and discuss your treatment options. The majority of chemical skin peels require use of a home product for two to six weeks before the treatment to prepare your skin. The actual procedure only takes about 15 to 20 minutes. During this time, you may experience anything from a mild tingling to a warming of the skin as the peel is applied; the peel is then neutralized and rehydrated.

Following your treatment, you will be able to resume your day-to-day activities with little down time. We can cover the very slight redness which may occur following a chemical skin peel with mineral make-up straight away, which means that no-one can tell you have just had this procedure!

For the best results, we recommend a course of six treatments, typically spaced out at two- to four-weekly intervals. We find that the optimal results are achieved after six treatments and that clients can usually maintain this result with a follow-up chemical skin peel every three months.
