TCA Peels (Trichloracetic Peels) were developed as an alternative to the original Phenol peels.
These peels penetrate the dermis and are not suited for darker skin types. TCA is most effective for freckles, pigmentation, sun damaged and mature skins and fine to medium wrinkles. They act by stimulating collagen and speed cell turnover.
What can TCA treat?
- Premature ageing from sun exposure.
- Blotchy pigmentation/freckles.
- Reduce some types of acne scarring.
Pre and post facial plastic surgery
TCA peels can be used to prepare your skin prior to facial plastic surgery. The skin’s natural healing response is activated thereby speeding up healing time and reducing scarring.
Facial plastic surgery does not improve pigmentation and elasticity. By combining peels with your surgery your post operative appearance is enhanced as skin is re-texturised and blotchy uneven appearance is reduced. Skin is also more luminous.
Peels are commenced 6 – 8 weeks prior to surgery. Last peel 2 weeks prior to surgery.
